REVOLUTION TRACK

Revolution Track

I knew it was just a matter of time before I ended up buying a single speed / fixed wheel bike ('fixie') and I finally succumbed to temptation... this little beauty was the result.  This classic style of bike has been enjoying a huge resurge in popularity recently, particularly in and around the big UK cities.

I was thumbing throught the latest edition of 'Bicycle Buyer' magazine and they had a massive feature on fixed wheel / single speed bikes.  As fate would have it, the latest catalogue from the Edinburgh Bicycle Company landed on my doormat the same day.  The Edinburgh Bike Co has been in business for years and they produce their own range of superb bikes, most of which have scored very highly in various magazine comparison tests.

This particular machine is their take on the classic track / race / single speed / fixie bike.  Comes with a nicely 'retro' style paint scheme and the essential 'flip-flop' hub (so you can switch between fixed wheel and single speed freewheel options).   What's it like to ride?  Beautifully balanced and lightweight, the gearing is reasonably high which makes it a superb training machine.  And if you think that means it's only good for riding on the flat, take a look at www.kevinmacneil.com - he rode one of these 1400 km alongside the River Danube...
